Doctors Clinic Group are pleased to offer access to DHSC evaluated Rapid Antigen Tests. Rapid Antigen or Lateral Flow Devices are one of the newest types of test in the fight against COVID-19. These simple tests have been designed to be carried out by healthcare professional and are able to give results in as little as 15-30 mins.

Who can have a Rapid Antigen Test?

These tests can help to identify people who have high levels of the virus but do not have symptoms, which makes them an excellent tool in screening for COVID-19. They are suitable for individuals and the workforce as they provide a quick and easy way to check for the virus.

These tests will help to identify the majority of cases with high levels of virus, who are at the highest risk of transmitting the virus. In essence, they help to understand the infectiousness of people without symptoms.

How effective are your COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests?

At Doctors Clinic Group we are able to offer Rapid Antigen tests that have been evaluated by The Department of Health and Social Care. Currently, we are using the Roche/SD Biosensor Rapid Antigen test, which has been noted to have a Sensitivity 96.52% and Specificity 99.68%

Our rapid antigen tests are carried out in accordance with the MHRA guidance and all tests are taken by a trained healthcare professional at our COVID testing clinics. These tests are not designed for home use.

How do you take the sample?

Wearing full PPE, our clinicians will take a simple nose swab which will be placed in a special solution and then applied to the lateral flow test device.

For your safety and to help maintain social distancing we will not ask you to wait around for results. Instead, your result will be shared securely via our patient portal 1-2 hrs after your appointment.

Can I have a Rapid Antigen Test for travelling purposes?

These tests are not yet approved for travel or to certify fitness to fly or for the test to release programme. If you require this service, please book a COVID-19 PCR swab test.

Can I have a Rapid Antigen Test if I have symptoms?

If you think you have COVID-19, or are displaying any of the symptoms, please only book a home PCR swab test or go to an NHS testing centre near you.

When should I have the Rapid Antigen Test?

This is one of our newest types of test to be used by employers or individuals in the fight against COVID-19. It’s a quick, simple and convenient test for anyone asymptomatic who would like frequent screening.

It is not approved for travel/fitness to fly or for the test to release programme- for that please book a PCR swab test.

How can testing help me and my staff get back to work, college, university?

We recommend regular testing for all businesses. Regular testing can help detect asymptomatic infections, limit transmission of the virus and keep the rest of the staff safe.

What type of test is used?

Currently we are using Roche/SD Biosensor Rapid Antigen tests that have been evaluated by The Department of Health and Social Care. We have carefully selected a quick and easy Rapid Antigen Test designed and developed by Roche. Roche have been at the forefront in developing COVID tests to screen for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

All tests are carried out in accordance with the MHRA guidance. This is a simple sterile nasal swab test using a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of specific antigens of SARS-Cov-2 present in the human nasopharynx.

Who will carry out the test?

The test is carried out by our trained healthcare professionals in our COVID testing clinics. Results take as little as 15 – 30 minutes. The test is intended to detect people who have high levels of the SARS-CoV-2 virus but do not have symptoms, which makes them an excellent tool in screening for COVID-19.

How accurate is your test?

The test has a sensitivity of 96.52% and specificity of 99.68%. It is an ideal test to help identify the majority of cases with high levels of virus, who are at the highest risk of transmitting the virus. In essence, they help to understand the infectiousness of people without symptoms.

Around 1-2 hours after your appointment.

How much does it cost?

Can I the Rapid Antigen Test if I have symptoms?

No, you cannot come into clinic if you have symptoms. It’s also not recommended to have the Rapid Antigen Test if you are symptomatic, instead a home PCR swab test should be carried out, which we can send directly to your home address.
