VitalityHealth COVID-19 Testing

London Doctors Clinic has partnered with VitalityHealth to offer their members fast access to COVID-19 testing. As a VitalityHealth member you're eligible for discounted coronavirus swab and antibody testing.

You can access:

  • COVID-19 PCR swab at-home tests available nationwide
  • COVID-19 PCR swab tests at Chelsea and Covent Garden clinics only (no symptoms)
  • COVID-19 antibody tests available across all clinics

VitalityHealth Face-to-Face GP Consultations

As a VitalityHealth member, you also have fast access to private GP consultations across London at a reduced rate. 

If you’re a VitalityHealth member you can book a 15 minute face-to-face private GP at any of our clinics.

Appointments are available from 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am – 5:30pm Saturdays and Sundays

  • Simply quote “VitalityHealth" on the phone or in the booking notes and give your Vitality membership number.  

Before Booking An Appointment:

  • Check that this service is included on your Vitality plan on the Vitality Member Zone.
  • Have your Vitality membership number to hand. You can find this on the Member Zone or on your plan documents. 
  • If you book an appointment online, please enter“VitalityHealth” and your Vitality membership number in the booking notes.
  • If you book an appointment over the phone, please let us know that you’re a Vitality member and have your membership number ready.

If you need to cancel please let us know as soon as possible.

 

During Your Consultation

The GP might issue a private prescription, offer a blood test, or refer you for a minor diagnostic test, such as an x-ray. You’ll need to pay for this yourself, but you may be able to claim the cost back from your Vitality GP Benefit providing you have remaining allowance.

The GP may also be able to offer you a scan or ultra-sound to understand a bit more about your condition. Before proceeding with this you should contact VitalityHealth to seek authorisation.

 

After Your Consultation

If the GP considers that you need referral for onward treatment, for example seeing a consultant, they will write you an open referral letter which you’ll need to send to vitalitygp@vitality.co.uk. Make sure the letter includes your full name and plan number. VitalityHealth will then call you with their decision. If you have any further treatment without contacting us for authorisation first, they may not be able to provide cover.

COVID Tests and Vitality Member Costs

PCR Swab testing checks for the antigen to see if you have the active virus. Antibody testing checks to see if you have SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies which would indicate you have previously been infected with COVID-19.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the terms and conditions for my coronavirus tests and are they covered on my insurance plan with Vitality?

Coronavirus tests are available to the following Vitality members:

  • Personal health insurance
  • Business health insurance
  • Corporate healthcare
  • Vitality at Work

Coronavirus test costs are to be paid in full by you.

Please ensure you book through Member Zone, so that you get the discounted Vitality member price.

If you have a Personal Health Fund, you can use it to claim the cost of the coronavirus test back.

If you request a coronavirus test, it does not count as a claim. This means it will not impact the calculation of your renewal premium.

Can I get a private COVID test in Doctors Clinic Group clinics?

Doctors Clinic Group currently only provide swab tests at our Chelsea clinic.

This clinic is only for patients who are not displaying symptoms. If you have symptoms, you should order our home test only.

If you have symptoms or are quarantining post-travel, it is important for everyone’s safety that you stay at home. You can get a test via the NHS if you have symptoms. If you do not have symptoms but want a private COVID test, you can order a test online to be delivered to your home.

When will I receive my private COVID Home Test kit?

Test kits usually arrive 2 days after you have placed the order as they are dispatched next working day and are delivered by Royal Mail Tracked 24. In your home test, you will be provided with a return “Special Business Class” envelope. Doctors Clinic Group are aware that Royal Mail deliveries and returns may be taking longer than normal so if results are wanted quicker, they would advise, where it is safe to do so, returning your sample by guaranteed next day delivery.

You, or someone of your behalf, can choose to drop off your sample directly at Doctors Clinic Group’s partner labs in London and Manchester. Samples can be dropped off 24 hours.

Doctors Clinic Group have no control over how long they will take to deliver your private COVID test UK wide after they have posted it to you and cannot guarantee their delivery timescales.

What do the home tests involve?

You will receive a kit with everything you need and step by step instructions. You will use the swabs provided to take nasal and throat swabs by scraping inside the nose and at the back of the throat. The swabs should be sealed in the containers provided and posted back to the laboratory for testing.

How do I get my results?

You will receive an email with your results once they are available. If you receive a positive result your details will be passed to NHS Track and Trace in accordance with government guidance.

How quickly will I get results back?

Results from the laboratory will be available 48 -72 hours from receipt of the sample by the lab.

In your home test, you will be provided with a return “Special Business Class” envelope. Doctors Clinic Group are aware that Royal Mail returns may be taking longer than normal so if results are wanted quicker, Doctors Clinic Group would advise, where it is safe to do so, returning your sample by guaranteed next day delivery.

Please note that whilst Doctors Clinic Group will do everything they can to get your test results as soon as possible, exact turnaround times cannot be guaranteed.

Doctors Clinic Group inform they cannot be held responsible for turnaround times and no refunds will be available where tests are delayed due to lab processing or delays with Royal Mail delivery times.

What is the Courier & Collect option?

The Courier & Collect option is a rapid delivery and pick up service for people living in London zones 1-4 only. Doctors Clinic Group’s courier will deliver your test to your address the next working day after you have completed the order. The courier will then wait 20 minutes whilst you take your sample and then take it back to the lab for priority results.

What happens if I test positive?

It is essential that you continue to follow the Government guidelines, wear a face covering as indicated and self-isolate for the full 10 days. Members of your family should isolate for 14 days as they may catch the illness from you at any stage during your infective period. If your condition worsens you should contact NHS 111 who will be able to provide more advice.

Your positive result will automatically be notified to the Test and Trace service and they may contact you in order to conduct contact tracing. Doctors Clinic Group are obliged to provide them with contact information for this purpose.

Can I get a fit to fly certificate?

If you have a PCR test, Doctors Clinic Group can provide you with a fit to fly certificate as part of the test cost. You can select this option on the order form for home tests or request a certificate when taking a test at Doctors Clinic Group’s dedicated pop up clinic.

Please note, it is your responsibility to check specific flight and border requirements for travel and to allow adequate time to receive your test results in time for your travel dates.

Can I take the COVID-19 antibody test in one of Doctors Clinic Group’s clinics?

Yes, antibody testing can be done in any of Doctors Clinic Group’s clinics. You will need to book a 15-minute GP appointment and request the antibody test in the notes section. This will cost £65 inclusive of the test

Can I cancel a clinic appointment?

Yes, but please note cancellations are subject to our standard Terms & Conditions

Is a COVID-19 PCR swab test refundable?

All opened or used coronavirus tests are non-refundable for hygiene and personal safety reasons. 

If your test in unopened and unused you may be eligible for a refund. Any returned tests need to obtain proof of postage or be tracked so we can process the refund.
