Sharing your results with the NHS

Does seeing a London Doctors Clinic GP affect my relationship with my NHS GP?

Having a London Doctors Clinic GP appointment does not result in any changes to the care you receive from your NHS GP and we recommend that you remain registered with your local NHS practice.

Does London Doctors Clinic have access to my NHS GP records?

Unfortunately, London Doctors Clinic does not have access to your NHS records. We recommend that you complete our pre-consultation form(hyperlink) to inform your London Doctors Clinic GP of any pre-existing conditions, allergies or regular medications. This information will be reviewed during your appointment.

You may also leave notes in the comments section when you book your appointment.

What if I don’t have an NHS GP?

We will still be very happy to see and assist you with your health needs.

Will my GP be informed of the outcome of my appointment?

Continuity of care is essential to ensuring that you receive safe and effective healthcare treatment and services, whether through the NHS or privately. To facilitate this, we ensure your NHS GP gets a full picture of your health. This is especially important as London Doctors Clinic does not have access to your update your NHS records. Sharing information with your NHS GP ensures you maintain a complete medical record.

In the UK, the legal frameworks covering how patient data must be looked after and processed are the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018, which brought the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) into law, and the Common Law Duty of Confidentiality (CLDC). Under the Common Law Duty of Confidentiality, implied consent often applies where personal and health data is being used to support care and treatment, for example referring to another clinician, or providing relevant information to a GP.

Following your appointment at London Doctors Clinic, a copy of your consultation record will be shared with your NHS GP, unless you specifically tell us not to share this information. You may opt in or out at any time and may select which consultations you do and do not wish to share with exception of the following circumstances:

  1. We will always share information pertaining to children and young persons under the age of 18 years of age.
  2. Where there have been substantive changes to your regular medications.
  3. Consultations relating to mental health and associated medications.
  4. We will also let your GP know if we have prescribed any controlled medications.
  5. Where we identify a safeguarding issue or risk to an individual or others.

If you choose to opt out of sharing this information, we reserve the right not to prescribe certain medications or may be unable to assist in certain circumstances.
We will not routinely share any consultations relating to sexual health.

Can London Doctors Clinic Refer me to the NHS?

Unfortunately, London Doctors Clinic cannot routinely refer patients to NHS services – this includes for NHS blood tests, scans or consultant referrals.

The only exception is for emergency care via a local NHS A&E department.
