INFERTILITY PROFILES

Male and Female Infertility Tests

 

We at LDC regularly have patients booking in for GP consultations to discuss infertility, and have collated on this page a number of different blood tests and profiles that such patients – male and female – may be interested in.

Our GP’s are also able to refer clients on to private Specialist Fertility Clinics, with whom we regularly work alongside to provide the best, most convenient service possible to our patients. We are also very happy to facilitate blood tests for patients undergoing specialist fertility treatment elsewhere, for lower prices and better convenience!

Please note, for any patients requiring prescriptions for specific, specialist medications, we would require formal documentation from your consultant.

The cost of each test or profile is in addition to a 15-minute consultation with one of our GP’s – which will cost from £89. Test results are often available same-day, and can be discussed with the doctor either by a follow-up phone call, or during an subsequent consultation.
 
The GP may also recommend a general health screen, including investigations such as Full Blood Count and Thyroid tests, as these are common general health issues which can affect fertility.

Female Infertility Profile 1 (FIP)

£188 – Results in 4-6 Hours

The Female Hormone Profile 1 measures levels of the most important female hormones. These include:
  • LH
  • FSH
  • Prolactin
  • Oestradiol (17-Beta)

 

 

 

Other Female Infertility Tests

Depending on the suspected reason for infertility, and how thorough an investigation deemed necessary, we also offer a range of more complex blood tests. For these, our GP’s are happy to perform the test, but the results would be best discussed, interpreted and explained by a specialist – which we would refer you to.

Quantitative Blood Pregnancy Test (QHCG) (beta hCG)

£77 – Results in 4-6 Hours

Of course, alongside these fertility tests, we are also able to perform blood pregnancy testing – both the generic qualitative urine pregnancy test, and a more sensitive blood test.
 
The latter is a highly sensitive, quantitative blood test. This means that instead of simply confirming the presence or absence of beta hCG like the urine test does, this quantitative test precisely measures the level of this hormone, indicating how far along into the pregnancy a woman is.
 

 

Male Infertility Profiles

There are many different potential reasons for male infertility, thus we offer a vast number of possible investigations to match. These can all be discussed within a full GP consultation, from which specific recommendations will be made depending on patient history.
 
The GP may initially suggests a general health screen, including investigations such as Full Blood Count and Thyroid tests, as these are common general health issues which can affect fertility.
