United Arab Emirates Medical

Thinking of moving to The United Arab Emirates?

Whether applying for a Residency Visa or a Work Permit, all visa applicants will require a thorough Medical Exam, along with a series of blood tests before being granted their visa.

Unusually, these exams and tests must all take place upon arrival to the UAE in a Government Medical Facility. Failure of any single aspect of this exam, may result in immediate quarantine, deportation, and visa refusal.

Therefore, many UAE visa applicants prefer to undergo this test first at home – whether in full, or in part – before catching that 7 hour flight to Dubai! That way, there will be no nasty surprises when undergoing these tests in the UAE Government facility, and you can be sure of your impending passing of this medical exam. Like a trial-run or dress rehearsal, before the real Medical upon arrival to the UAE!

The vast majority of this Medical Examination and tests can be performed during a 30-minute GP consultation, costing just £450. In addition to this, all UAE Visa applicants also require the following exams & lab tests, at the following extra costs:

  • Complete/ Full Blood Count
  • Biochemistry:
    • Random Blood Sugar
    • Glycosylated Haemoglobin HbA1c
  • Serology:
    • HIV
    • Hepatitis B
    • Hepatitis C
    • Syphilis (VDRL)
  • Complete Urinalysis (UCEM)
  • Chest X-Ray*
  • Pure tone Audiometry*
  • Spirometry
  • Routine 12-lead ECG (for applicants aged 40+)
  • Vision screen, including – performed by GP, included in cost of consultation.
    • Colour vision examination

*For the Audiometry and Chest X-Ray, we will provide you with a referral to the relevant clinics.

We are able to perform our parts of the exam for just £450, with additional payment for the X-Ray being paid separately to the provider directly. Alternatively, we’re happy for UAE visa applicants to pick-and-choose which parts of this long list of tests they would like performing.

Once all results are returned to the Doctor, they will be able to fill out all forms and complete the physical examination in a 15-minute appointment.
