Private Ear Microsuction | Removal of Earwax

Naturally occurring earwax (also called cerumen) acts as a lubricant, adhesive and anti-bacterial agent to support the ear. Earwax normally naturally passes out of the ears, however at time excess wax can occur causing blocked ears. Symptoms of blocked ears include hearing loss, itchiness or vertigo. At London Doctors Clinic we provide Ear Microsuction and Ear Irrigation services to remove excess earwax and relieve these symptoms.

Please note patients must be 18+ for microsuction and ear syringing. PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT.

Why should I come in for ear wax removal?

An earwax build-up may be caused from excess wax production, narrow or hairy ear canals and continued use of inner ear products. Blocked ear canals may result in experiencing loss of hearing, coughing, itching, ringing, vertigo and discomfort.

Microsuction is recognised as the gold standard for ear wax removal, offering a fast and effective wax removal treatment. Ear Microscution is a procedure using a microscope and suction tube inserted into the outer ear canal to remove excess ear wax.

Ear Irrigation is a procedure using low pressure water inserted into the ear canal with a small probe to dislodge the wax.

Please note: Prior to Ear Irrigation the wax must be softened using olive oil drops for 3-7 days to the affected ear. If the wax is not softened, we will not be able to undertake ear irrigation when you attend for your appointment, if available and appropriate Microsuction may be offered.

Please read and complete the consent form for ear irrigation
