Private Mole Check | Mole Clinic
We all know how worrying moles can be and how often skin cancer affects people living in the UK. Moles are natural skin growths that come in different shapes and sizes. However, it’s important to seek specialist advice at least once a year, or more often if you notice any changes in shape, size or colour. New moles are particularly concerning after the age of 40, so these should be closely monitored. When it comes to skin cancer, early detection, regular self-assessments and mole removal are key to recovery. Book your private mole check today with London Doctors Clinic.

- Peace of mind in under 30 minutes
Don’t wait — skin cancer is one of the most common cancers, but also one of the most treatable when caught early. If you’ve noticed a new mole or a change in an existing one, now’s the time to get it checked.
What is skin cancer?
There are two main types of skin cancer: melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer (Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma).
You should see a specialist if any of your moles have the following symptoms:
- Recent changes in size, shape or colour.
- New moles that look different from the others.
- Largest diameter measures 6mm or more.
- Changes in sensation (pain, numbness or tingling)
- Spontaneous bleeding, oozing or crusting.
- Ulceration
- Inflammation
There are also many factors which may increase your risk of developing skin cancer:
- Having fair skin (Fitzpatrick types I or II)
- Family history of melanoma
- Having more than 50 moles
- Frequent sunburns
- Having lived in a hot country
- Sunbed use

What will happen at my private mole check appointment?
Your screening will be performed by one of our experienced dermatologists who have specific training in dermoscopy. Dermoscopy refers to the non-invasive examination of the skin using skin surface microscopy.
During your appointment, the dermatologist will begin by gathering information about your general health and sun exposure history. At this stage of the consultation, we strongly advise you to point out any mole(s) of concern (e.g. have experienced recent changes in shape, size or colour, bleeding, tenderness, etc.) which will be later examined during the physical screening.
The mole check will be tailored to your personal needs. A quick visual examination of the skin, along with a dermoscopy of highlighted moles will be performed. Areas of difficult monitoring, such as the back, will be examined in more detail.
Please be advised that due to time constraints, the number of moles that can be assessed in a single 30-minute session may be limited. If you have a significant number of moles or have been diagnosed with atypical mole syndrome, please inform us when booking so we can advise appropriately.
If further investigation or treatment is required after your initial consultation, we can arrange a biopsy or mole removal at the same clinic with one of our dermatologists.
Book your mole check today if you have noticed any changes or are looking for some peace of mind.
